Meteorological Departmenthas Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal

Monsoon activity has intensified across several parts of India, with heavy rainfall expected to continue over many states in central and eastern India in the coming days. According to the India Meteorological Department , a low-pressure area over eastern Madhya Pradesh is moving gradually west-northwestwards, bringing favorable conditions for widespread rainfall across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Madhya Pradesh is likely to witness widespread rainfall from July 7 to 11. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at several places across eastern and western Madhya Pradesh between July 7 and 9, while rain activity is expected to continue through July 13. Vidarbha is also likely to receive widespread rainfall from July 7 to 9 and again on July 13, with isolated heavy showers forecast on July 8. Chhattisgarh is expected to witness widespread rainfall on July 7 and 13, while light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places from July 8 to 12. In eastern India, Odisha is expected to receive rainfall across several districts from July 7 to 13. Bihar is likely to experience widespread rainfall on July 8-9 and again from July 11-13, with isolated places likely to receive very heavy rainfall on July 10. Jharkhand is expected to witness active monsoon conditions from July 7-8 and July 10-13. In Gangetic West Bengal, widespread rainfall is forecast on July 7 and again from July 10-13, while Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to witness persistent rainfall throughout July 7-13. Extremely heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated locations in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on July 8. Meanwhile, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are likely to receive intermittent rainfall from July 7 to 13. The Meteorological Departmenthas also issued a warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across several states. Parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal may experience thunderstorms accompanied by wind speeds of 40-60 km/h. Residents in these regions are advised to follow the latest weather advisories and take necessary precautions during periods of heavy rain and severe weather.
