Latest analysis based on mid April data shows probability of el Nino going up to 70% in JAS . This could have very adverse affect on kharif crops. Date analysed erlier in April el Nino chances were only 50%. Monsoon failure at grain filling and maturity during Aug Sept would mean lower yields and leaves very slim chances for farmers to switch to other crops.
