Tamil Nadu and Assam Brace for Heavy Downpour.
A well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal has moved west-northwest to the central south Bay of Bengal. It is expected to intensify into a depression today and move northwestwards towards the Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coasts in the next two days. Light to moderate rainfall, with heavy spells at isolated places, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is very likely over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 2-3 days. A cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam is likely to bring light rainfall to Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura over the next 2-3 days. Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana from late tonight to early morning over the next two days, and in Himachal Pradesh for the next 3-4 days. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog conditions are expected in isolated pockets across North India during the remaining days of the week. Maximum temperatures will be near normal across much of the country for the coming days. Minimum temperatures will stay around normal or slightly warmer than normal across the country for the next 5 days, while some of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra may experience below normal minimums.
