Depression Over Bay of Bengal Set to Trigger Heavy Rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh.
The depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal is intensifying and steadily advancing toward the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coastline. It is expected to move north-northwestward and intensify into a deep depression within the next 12 hours. Subsequently, it will likely continue moving in the same direction toward the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coasts over the following two days. Moderate rainfall, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms, is expected over Tamil Nadu, south Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, while coastal Tamil Nadu is expected to experience isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall. Light to moderate rainfall is expected over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura over the next 2-3 days. A fresh Western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan. Dense fog is expected in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Tripura and Chandigarh over the next 3-4 days. Additionally, isolated areas across North India are expected to experience shallow to moderate fog during the late night and early morning hours for the rest of the week. A gradual decrease in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C is expected over northwest India, excluding Rajasthan, during the next five days. Similarly, Maharashtra is likely to experience a drop in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C over the next four days. No significant change in minimum temperatures is anticipated across the rest of the country during the next five days.
