Maize Report

In Madhya Pradesh (MP), the maize (corn) harvest has started coming in rapidly, and ethanol companies are purchasing maize at every price point. The pressure from the maize crops of MP and Rajasthan will continue for the next two months, which has led to a quick movement of older stock as well. As a result, maize prices in the mandis of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have dropped to around ₹2250-2300 per quintal. There is little room for further price reduction, as ethanol and starch companies are buying at these prices. Additionally, large companies have started stockpiling maize. Therefore, it does not seem likely that there will be a downturn in prices in the near future. The price of maize from MP has remained around ₹2500-2550 per quintal in Haryana and Punjab, with ethanol companies continuing to absorb the supply.
