Deep Depression Over Bay of Bengal to Impact Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh with Heavy Rainfall.
The deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal has been steadily intensifying, moving northwards.Forecasts indicate that the system will continue its north-northwestward trajectory, skirting the Sri Lankan coast in the next 12 hours. It is expected to make landfall as a deep depression along the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram by the morning of the day after tomorrow. Moderate rainfall to heavy at a few places accompanied with isolated thunderstorm & lightning very likely over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Coastal Andhra Pradesh during next 2-3 days. A fresh western disturbance has emerged as a cyclonic circulation over northeast Iran, which could impact weather patterns in northern India in the coming days. Light to moderate rainfall is expected at many places in South Interior Karnataka and Kerala, with heavy spells likely in some areas after 3-4 days. Dense fog is expected in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Tripura and Chandigarh over the next 3-4 days. Additionally, isolated areas across North India are expected to experience shallow to moderate fog during the late night and early morning hours for the rest of the week. No significant change in minimum temperatures is expected over East India for the next two days, followed by a likely drop of 2-3°C in the subsequent 2-3 days. Similarly, no significant change in minimum temperatures is expected over Northwest and Central India for the next five days.
