Cold Wave to Hit Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal as Heavy Rains Lash South India.
The low pressure are over central parts of south Bay of Bengal lay over southwest Bay of Bengal. It is likely to become more marked and move west-northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu coast during next 2 days. Light to moderate rainfall with heavy spell may occur over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry during next 2-3 days. The upper air cyclonic circulation over southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area. The Western disturbance as a trough in middle & upper tropospheric westerlies. The upper cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan adjoining Jammu Division now seen as an induced cyclonic circulation over northwest Rajasthan & neighbourhood. Minimum temperatures in Northwest India (excluding East Uttar Pradesh) are expected to remain steady for the next three days, followed by a gradual rise of about 2°C. In Central and West India, temperatures are likely to remain unchanged for the next 24 hours, with a gradual increase of 3-5°C over the subsequent 2-5 days. Meanwhile, East Uttar Pradesh and East India are forecasted to experience a rise in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C over the next 2-4 days, with no significant changes expected thereafter. Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are likely over North and Central India by today, with North India continuing to face these conditions for several days. Dense fog is likely to persist across the northern mountainous regions and the northern plains for several days.
