Andhra Pradesh Braces for Heavy Downpours
A well-marked low-pressure area currently lies over the southwest Bay of Bengal and is expected to move northwestward towards the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts over the next 24 hours. Subsequently, it is likely to track northward along the Andhra Pradesh coast over the following 24 hours, bringing significant rainfall to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha over the next two days. While rainfall activity is forecast to weaken by the weekend, the associated cyclonic circulation is likely to persist over the Bay of Bengal, leading to intermittent rain along the east coast through the weekend and into the following week. A Western disturbance as a trough in lower & middle tropospheric westerlies runs roughly along with an induced circulation in the lower levels over southwest Rajasthan. A gradual drop in minimum temperatures by 2-3℃ is likely over the Western Himalayan region during the next 2-4 days. Over the plains of Northwest India, no significant change in minimum temperatures is expected during the next 24 hours, followed by a gradual decrease of 2-3℃ over the subsequent three days. Central India and Maharashtra are likely to experience a rise in minimum temperatures by 3-4℃ during the next 24 hours, with no significant change thereafter. In Gujarat, minimum temperatures are expected to remain steady over the next two days, followed by a rise of 2-3℃ during the subsequent two days. East India is likely to see an increase in minimum temperatures by 2-3℃ during the next 24 hours, with no significant change thereafter. Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail in a few areas of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and parts of East Rajasthan during the next 2-3 days, while these conditions are expected to affect West Rajasthan after three days. Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail during the late-night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh today, while East Rajasthan and Jharkhand are expected to experience similar conditions from tomorrow. Ground frost conditions are very likely to occur in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan over the next 2-3 days.
