Soybean : Over 14.71 Lakh Tonnes Purchased at MSP

The government has procured over 14.71 lakh tonnes of soybean at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹4,892 per quintal this year. Due to weaker prices in the markets, government procurement has increased, strengthening the purchase situation in key states. Soybean Procurement in Major States: Maharashtra: 8.36 lakh tonnes Madhya Pradesh: 3.88 lakh tonnes Telangana: 0.81 lakh tonnes Rajasthan: 0.90 lakh tonnes Gujarat: 48,054.81 tonnes Karnataka: 18,199.85 tonnes After the government procurement ends, this stock will be sold in the market, as seen recently with mustard. Impact on Soymeal and Oil Market: In the last two months, the export demand for soymeal has increased due to lower prices, but the overall export volume has decreased. Soybean processors are awaiting government sales, as they hope that the stock can be sold at lower prices, which could boost soymeal export demand and improve crushing margins. With the high prices of palm oil in the international market, the demand for other edible oils is expected to rise. If the import duties on edible oils are increased, domestic prices of oilseeds and edible oils may strengthen, providing support to the market.
