Arrival of New Maize starts in Bihar and Bengal

Sowing and Production of Maize: Compared to last year, the sowing of maize in Bihar has increased by 10-15%. Due to favorable weather and good quality grains, production is expected to rise by 15-18% this year. After the potato harvest, Punjab, Haryana, and UP have seen an increase in maize cultivation by 10-15%. Maize Supply in Other States: In Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, a good maize harvest has caused a drop in local market prices. The dependency of these states on maize supply from Bihar has decreased as local production meets the demand. Impact of Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh now produces maize twice a year, increasing overall production. This has reduced the reliance on maize supply from Maharashtra and Bihar. Price Pressure on Maize: Other commodities like rice, which are cheaper and better alternatives, are readily available. Weak maize export performance has put further pressure on prices. Other grains like bajra (pearl millet) being cheaper than maize have impacted its demand. Future Outlook: According to traders and experts, maize prices are expected to drop further by ₹300-350.
