Wheat market report

During the past week, wheat demand remained steady, resulting in a weekly increase of ₹25-50 per quintal. Wheat arrivals in Uttar Pradesh have not yet begun, but the government has started taking decisions like district lockdowns. Due to a shortage in the pipeline, millers in the southern region have created strong demand in the market. Stockists should pay attention to the market after April 8. After April 1, wheat arrivals will begin in several districts of Uttar Pradesh. According to data as of March 22, 1593 metric tons of wheat have been purchased so far, all from Rajasthan. There have been no purchases from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat as of now. The government has more stock available compared to last year. Typically, after Holi, hot winds affect the quality of wheat crops, but this year, that is not the case. The crops from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat are reported to have better quality and yield. Light rain in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana has created favorable weather conditions for crops. The area under wheat cultivation has increased in almost all states. If hot winds do not blow for the next 10 days, both quality and quantity are expected to be significantly better. Last week, there was a total arrival of 20,000 quintals in the Delhi line, and wheat prices remained stable. As the arrivals increase across the country, wheat prices in the Delhi line may drop to ₹2600 per quintal. Currently, the price of wheat in Delhi is ₹2840-2850 per quintal.
