Wheat Prices Ease Despite Lower Supply as Market Faces Weak Demand

Due to higher wheat production this year and strong government procurement into the central pool, roller flour mills have started buying wheat from the open market. Despite a drop in supply last week, prices fell by ₹10 per quintal, as existing stock continued to be offloaded into the market. Cheaper Supply to Mills Outside Delhi Pressures Prices Currently, mills located outside Delhi are receiving wheat at lower prices directly from producing regions. As a result, their finished products flour, maida, and suji are being sold at cheaper rates, which has impacted demand. This decline in demand for processed wheat products has directly contributed to softness in wheat prices as well. Rain Impacts Arrivals in MP & UP In Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, rainfall has disrupted arrivals in major mandis. At the same time, sales of finished products from roller mills have been sluggish, prompting these mills to limit their purchases to immediate needs only. As a result, there is no strong buying pressure in the market. Current Prices Wheat prices in Delhi have dropped to 2,850 - 2,860 per quintal. The market remains under pressure due to ample stock and weak demand.
