Weather Update

The well-marked low pressure area over north interior Tamil Nadu and nearby regions has moved west-northwestward and weakened into a low pressure system. It currently lies over north interior Tamil Nadu and adjoining south interior Karnataka. This system is expected to continue moving west-northwestward across south interior Karnataka and gradually weaken further over the next 24 hours. Minimum temperatures across most parts of Northwest India are expected to drop by 2 to 4°C over the next 2 to 3 days, indicating a gradual onset of cooler conditions in the region. West India: Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected over Konkan & Goa until tomorrow, while similar activity over the rest of Maharashtra is likely to subside by the end of today. However, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected to continue across the region over the next five days. East & Central India: Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) is likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the next seven days. Odisha may experience similar weather conditions over the next three days. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning are expected over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during the next five days. South Peninsular India is expected to vary over the coming days. Light to moderate showers with isolated heavy spells over Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka, and Kerala are likely to ease by tomorrow. However, rain will continue over Coastal Karnataka and Telangana for the next two days, with Coastal Karnataka experiencing an extended wet spell lasting 3 to 4 days. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely across the region over the next five days.
