Monsoon Brings Widespread Rainfall Across India

The Southwest Monsoon continues to make steady progress across the country as of June 28, the northern limit of the monsoon has advanced through Surat, Indore, Mandla, Daltonganj, Motihari, and up to the Nepal border. Over the next 2 to 3 days, the monsoon is expected to cover the remaining parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Thereafter, conditions will become favorable for its further advance into Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and southeastern Rajasthan. North India Rainfall activity is expected to intensify across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan in the coming days. Between July 1 and July 4, widespread rainfall is likely over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40 to 60 km/h are expected at several places. Heavy rainfall is also forecast over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Central India Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha are likely to witness persistent rainfall from June 28 to July 4. Several districts may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Eastern and Northeastern India Widespread rainfall is expected to continue over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura over the next few days. Extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Meghalaya and Assam. Western India Monsoon activity will remain active over Konkan & Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, and Saurashtra & Kutch. Konkan & Goa are likely to receive very heavy rainfall at isolated locations. South India Good rainfall is expected to continue through the coming week over Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Kerala and Coastal Karnataka may witness very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Temperature Northwest India: Maximum temperatures are expected to fall by 4�C to 6�C between June 30 and July 2. �Maharashtra: Day temperatures may decrease by 3�C to 5�C from the beginning of July. �Gujarat: A gradual drop of 2�C to 3�C in maximum temperatures is also expected.
