New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an active monsoon phase across most parts of the country from July 22 to July 28, with widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds expected over several regions. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely in parts of North, Central, East, West, Northeast, and Peninsular India during the period. In North India, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive widespread rainfall. Western Rajasthan may witness thunderstorms, lightning, and wind speeds of 40�50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph on July 22. Extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over southeastern Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir on the same day. Uttarakhand is expected to experience heavy rainfall from July 22�28, while Himachal Pradesh may receive heavy showers from July 23 onwards. Across Central India, an active monsoon is likely over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over parts of Madhya Pradesh between July 22 and 26, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall likely over southwest Madhya Pradesh on July 22. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also expected over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. In East India, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are likely to witness widespread rainfall. Jharkhand may experience thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 40�60 kmph between July 22 and 26. Odisha is likely to receive very heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 22. The Northeast is expected to remain under the influence of an active monsoon, with widespread rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura throughout the week. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places, while thunderstorms and lightning are also expected across the region. In West India, Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Saurashtra & Kutch are likely to receive significant rainfall. Gujarat may witness extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations between July 22 and 24. Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra are also expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on multiple days during the forecast period. Across Peninsular India, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to witness scattered to widespread rainfall. Coastal Karnataka may receive very heavy rainfall on July 22, while several southern states are also expected to experience thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 30�60 kmph. The IMD has advised residents in affected areas to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, stay away from trees and electric poles during thunderstorms, and follow official weather advisories issued by local authorities.
