Heavy Rainfall Likely Over Central India The low-pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh is expected to influence weather conditions across central India in the coming days. Western Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive widespread rainfall from August 11 to 15, while eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh may experience widespread rainfall from August 11 to 17. Some areas of western Madhya Pradesh could receive very heavy rainfall on August 11. Heavy rainfall is also likely over western Madhya Pradesh during August 11-13 and eastern Madhya Pradesh during August 13-16. Chhattisgarh is expected to witness heavy rainfall during August 11-14, along with thunderstorms and lightning activity during August 11-15. Vidarbha may also see increased rainfall activity on August 12-13 and August 17. Rainfall Activity to Increase Over Rajasthan and North India Several parts of northwest India are likely to experience widespread rainfall during the week. Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand are expected to receive widespread rainfall between August 11 and 17. Eastern Rajasthan could witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 11, with isolated instances of extremely heavy rainfall possible in some areas. Heavy rainfall is also likely over eastern Rajasthan during August 11 and August 13-14. Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi may receive rainfall during August 11-12 and August 14-15, while Punjab is likely to see significant rainfall around August 14. Eastern Uttar Pradesh may experience widespread rainfall during August 14-17. Eastern India to Remain Wet Rainfall activity is expected to continue over West Bengal and Odisha from August 11 to 17. Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are also likely to receive widespread rainfall from August 12 to 17. Rainfall activity over Bihar is expected to increase during August 14-17. Odisha may receive very heavy rainfall at isolated places during August 11-13. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands may experience strong winds of 50-60 kmph, gusting up to 70 kmph, along with stormy weather during August 11-12. Northeast India to See Widespread Rainfall Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive widespread rainfall during August 12-17, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may experience widespread rainfall during August 11-17. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected across several northeastern states. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya could also experience very heavy rainfall at isolated places during August 15-17. Thunderstorms and lightning activity are also likely across parts of the Northeast during the coming days. Maharashtra and Gujarat to Receive Significant Rainfall Western India is also expected to remain active. Konkan and Goa may receive widespread rainfall from August 11-17, while Madhya Maharashtra is likely to experience widespread rainfall during August 11-12. Gujarat may see widespread rainfall during August 11-13, while Marathwada and Saurashtra & Kutch are likely to receive rainfall during August 11-17. Very heavy rainfall is possible at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra on August 12. Thunderstorms and lightning activity may also occur over Gujarat and Saurashtra & Kutch during August 11-12. Southern Peninsula to Remain Rain-Active Rainfall is expected across coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during August 11-17. Telangana may experience rainfall activity from August 11-16. Coastal Karnataka and Kerala are also likely to receive rainfall throughout the week. Parts of Karnataka may witness widespread rainfall, while thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are possible over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu during August 11-13. Telangana may experience strong winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, during August 11-14. Fresh Low-Pressure System Likely Over Bay of Bengal A cyclonic circulation is currently present over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Under its influence, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to develop over the region around August 12. The development of this system could further enhance rainfall activity across eastern and central India over the next few days.
