Heavy rains over Kerala, Karnataka, Tamilnadu & Konkan regions

The Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Maha' (Pronounced as M'maha) over east central Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 17 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centered over east central Arabian Sea about 300 km north of Cheriapani Reef (Lakshadweep), and 390 km west-northwest of Mangaluru (Karnataka). It is likely to move north-northwestwards during next 06 hours. It is likely to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm over east central Arabian sea during the next 12 hours. Drain out excess rainwater in crop field due to heavy rainfall. Postpone the spraying operation. Due to continuous rainfall received during last couple of days, weeds competition in crop field is observed, intercultural operation is recommended to overcome weeds infestation. Postpone sowing of rabi crops for next couple of days.

Under the influence of the above system, heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely falls likely over Lakshadweep area during next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala, south Tamilnadu and Coastal Karnataka during next 24 hours & Heavy rainfall over Rayalseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & South Interior Karnataka during next 24 hrs. Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning likely at isolated places over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. To overcome the in vegetables crops particularly the tomato and brinjal respectively, it is recommended to spray the crop with Malathion 50EC dissolved in one litre of water. Pigeon pea is in the flowering stage. Pod borer eggs are noticed in the crop, so the farmers are advised to take up insecticide spray such as Profenophos(2ml) or 0.6 gm methomyl in one litre of water.

Weather in the states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan likely to be dry and Mist, Shallow fog likely at isolated places during next 3-4 days. Farmers are advised to irrigate the crops especially vegetable and fruit crops.If pod rollers are found in pods of urad/moong, dissolve b.t. 5 percent w.p. 1.5 kg or quinolphas 25 e.c. 1.5 litre per hectare in 800-1000 liters of water and sprinkle it. Undertake sowing of mustard (with assured irrigation), chickpea, spinach, garlic, peas and field preparation for sowing of barley and potato. Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely along & off Karnataka, Goa-Maharashtra coast. Sea condition is high to very high over east central Arabian Sea likely to be high over west central Arabian Sea. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.
