Conditions are becoming favourable for advancement of monsoon over Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and parts of Uttarakhand
A low-pressure area has formed over Northeast Arabian Sea, south of Gujarat. Associated Cyclonic Circulation is extending up to mid tropospheric levels. An Offshore trough is extending from South Gujarat Coast to North Kerala coast. A Cyclonic Circulation is over Northwest Rajasthan and adjoining area. The east west trough from the Cyclonic Circulation over Northwest Rajasthan is extending up to West Central Bay of Bengal across East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and South Odisha. A Cyclonic Circulation is over South Chhattisgarh and adjoining area. In Chhattisgarh, prepare raised beds for rice nursery if assured irrigation facility is available; before nursery sowing or direct seeding of rice crop, treat the rice seeds with 17% salt solution. Prepare the fields for the sowing of soybean, maize, groundnut crops. Conditions are becoming favourable for advancement of monsoon over remaining parts of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh and parts of Uttarakhand in next 2 to 3 days. In MP, undertake sowing of cotton where irrigation facilities are available. In soybean, apply well decomposed FYM @ 10 t/ha or poultry manure @ 2.5 t/ha before the last harrowing. In Rajasthan, keeping in view of increasing temperature during the day, farmers are advised to apply light irrigation to standing crops and vegetables as per requirements. During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with few heavy spells are possible for over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, parts of coastal Karnataka, parts of Gujarat, Interior Maharashtra, south Madhya Pradesh and at one or two places over Telangana, South Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andaman and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Uttarakhand. Light to moderate rain is possible over rest of Northeast India, parts of Bihar, Odisha, west Madhya Pradesh, part of East Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Lakshadweep. In Bihar, sow good quality of pigeon pea varieties like NDA 1, Sharad, Pusa 9, Bahar, IPA203 etc.; ensure proper moisture in field; before sowing, carry out seed and soil treatment with Trichoderma. To control shoot and fruit borer in brinjal crop, collect infested fruits and shoots and bury them in the soil; if pest population is high, spray Spinosad. Light rain is possible over Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and at one or two places over Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. In Jharkhand, for cultivation of recommended varieties of soybean take 30-32 kg of seeds for cultivation in one acre. Maintain proper drainage facilities in the fields of yam and if crops are grown up to knee length, carry out earthing up and weeding before applying the dose of urea. During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with few heavy spells are possible over South Gujarat, Maharashtra coast, parts of Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at one or two place over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana and South Chhattisgarh. In Punjab, complete sowing of direct seeded rice and cotton including Bt cotton. Undertake sowing of a nursery of rice and arhar (pigeon pea). Continue harvesting of cucurbit crop and other vegetables like tomato, chilli, brinjal and okra at regular intervals. Irrigate crops regularly at the interval of 4-5 days to avoid water stress. Keep the soil moist in peach and plum orchards. Apply light and frequent irrigation in citrus, pear, litchi and mango orchards. In Haryana, due to possibility of light to medium rainfall, temporarily withheld irrigation and pesticide in cotton crop during this period. Prepare the field for sowing of pigeon pea/ arhar. Conserve the moisture in the field. Mid-June to July is a favourable time for sowing of arhar. Time is favourable for raising a nursery of vegetables like early sown cauliflower, tomato and chilli. After one month they can be transplanted in the field. Due to variable weather conditions withhold the irrigation in nursery crops.
