Cyclone Mocha is likely to make landfall between Bangladesh and Myanmar around Sunday, May 14. Moderate to heavy rain is possible over southern parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The forecast has shifted more easterly back compared to yesterday’s forecast, so Odisha is less likely to be affected significantly by the system. Fasal Salah advises farmers to hold sowing, spraying of pesticide and irrigation activities for coming five days. Light to moderate rain and snowfall is expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh and at one or two places over Uttarakhand. Farmers are advised to postpone the irrigation work in Moong. Light rain is possible over Odisha, south Chhattisgarh, central Uttar Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Telangana, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Andhra Pradesh. Farmers of Uttar Pradesh are advised to postpone the work of irrigation and spraying of medicines in maize crop and make proper arrangements for drainage of excessive rain water.

Light to moderate rain with a few heavy spells are possible over interior Tamil Nadu, south and coastal Karnataka, parts of Kerala and Madhya Maharashtra. Fasal Salah advises farmers to store their harvested cereals and pulses in a safe place. Heatwave conditions are possible in isolated places of Gangetic West Bengal through Thursday. Moreover, temperatures above 45°C are possible in isolated places of West Rajasthan from Thursday through this weekend. As heatwaves are predicted, hence Fasal Salah advise farmers to provide frequent irrigation in vegetables, fodders crops and orchards.
