Extremely Heavy Rains to lash Gujarat; Heavy rains in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand

A low-pressure area with a significant cyclonic circulation is present over south Rajasthan and surrounding regions and heavy rainfalls are expected over West Madhya Pradesh and the North Konkan, as well as in Rajasthan and Gujarat. • Highest rainfall with 200mm has been marked in Gujarat on Sep 18. • Moderate-heavy rains in Southern Rajasthan may affect the Moong, Mot and Guar crops, as it is the time for their harvesting. Farmers are advised to maintain proper drainage channels and cover for the crop. • Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are also predicted with light to moderate widespread and isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorms. • A second cyclonic circulation that is forming in the BOB will slowly move westwards and enter into Odisha in next 2-3 days. • In upcoming 3-4 days, very heavy rains are expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Gangetic West Bengal and Sikkim. • Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra may witness moderate-heavy rainfall in coming 4-5 days. Farmers are advised for sowing of radish, spinach, amaranths in Bihar. • Sugarcane farmers are advised to carry inter cultural operations followed by top dressing of nitrogen fertilizers, and do not spray any insecticide or pesticide during rains. • Coming to south India, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala are to experience light-moderately widespread rainfalls, and Telangana, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh are expected with scattered isolated rainfalls. • North-eastern states like Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh are likely to get light-moderate rains for next 3-4 days.
