Basmati variety of paddy has started being supplied in the markets of Haryana, Punjab and Western Uttar Pradesh, but due to excess moisture and green grains in the paddy, 1509 Sela rice is being produced less in the rice mills. Most of the rice mills are making steam rice only, because moist paddy is processed with steam, hence it is convenient in milling. This is the reason why Sela rice is being sold between Rs 6700/6800 per quintal depending on the quality. There is no pressure in other finished goods also. At present, there has been an increase in the trade of Tukda and Mogra quality in the market.
