Heavy rains over Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala
Over the next 2-3 days, the southwest monsoon will continue to recede from the Central Arabian Sea and some further areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Gangetic West Bengal, and the remaining portions of Telangana, Maharashtra, and Bihar. An east-west oriented trough over the extreme south peninsula will deliver light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala-Mahe along with thunderstorms and lightning for next 1-2 days, and then decrease later. Due to a fresh western disturbance, snow or light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning is expected throughout Kashmir-Gilgit-Baltistan, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from October 13 to 15. Light rainfall over Punjab and North Haryana are also expected from 14-15th October. Scattered rain with thunderstorms may impact Isolated rain with thunderstorms are likely over Bihar, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalseema and North Interior Karnataka during next 2-3 days. A trough over Northeast India will produce light to moderate rain over the regions for few days. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are expected with light to moderate rains for next 3-4 days. Advisory to farmers: In present weather condition, constant monitoring for brown plant hopper (BPH) in paddy field is advised. In case of blast disease infestation in paddy, top dressing of Nitrogenous fertilizer application is not advisable. Cotton picking is advisable. It is recommended to check for fruit and shoot borer attack in brinjal, and spray 80 ml Coragen 18.5 SC or 80 g Proclaim 5SG in 100-125 litres of water per acre. Paddy farmers are advised to harvest their crop soon after maturity, and start preparing the land for Rabi sowing. Farmers of Punjab, Haryana UP and MP etc., are advised to prepare land for sowing of Wheat, Mustard and other rabi crops like potato and chickpea.
