Heavy Rains May lash Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala

Due to the combined effect of strong Easterly/North-easterly winds and cyclonic circulation extending from the Bay of Bengal to Southeast Peninsular India, moderate-heavy widespread rains are anticipated over Tamil Nadu and Kerala-Mahe for next 3-4 days. Light-moderate rains with thunderstorms are anticipated over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalseema regions during next 3-4 days. Go for application of Hexaconazole @ 2 ml /lit or propiconazole 1 ml /lit to control sheath blight in paddy. To control Pink boll worm in cotton spraying with Profenophos @ 2ml/l and neem oil @ 5 ml/ l of water is recommended. After a long dry spell, Telangana is also expected to receive light-moderate showers at some regions. Isolated rain with thunderstorms may occur over regions of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Odisha for next 2-3 days. A weak western disturbance is expected to cause light snowfall or rainfall in a few isolated areas, most likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh for next 1-2 days. Light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall may occur over Andaman-Nicobar Islands for next 1-2 days. For the majority of India during this projected period, maximum temperatures will be above average and minimum temperatures will be above to well above normal.
