Heavy rain continues to lash in parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry

A cyclonic circulation off the west of Kerala will produce heavy rain across southern portions of South India. Heavy rain is possible over parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala-Mahe. A low-pressure area is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood in 2-3 days. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea. Fairly widespread rain with thunderstorms are likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Karnataka. Scattered rain with thunderstorms may occur over Konkan-Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and North Interior Karnataka. A fresh feeble western disturbance will affect the Western Himalayan Region on Thursday. Isolated light rain and snowfall is possible over upper reaches of Jammu Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and, Muzaffarabad. Isolated rain with thunderstorms are forecast over Odisha, Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Chhattisgarh. A deep trough associated with cold air aloft will produce rain with locally heavy falls across West India and adjoining areas from Sunday to Monday. Light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is likely over north Madhya Maharashtra, north Konkan, Gujarat, Southwest Madhya Pradesh and south Rajasthan during next 3 days.
