Maize - Keep selling at higher prices
The production of maize in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and the border areas of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab has been excellent. Due to the lack of old maize stock in warehouses, there is widespread buying by stockists at current prices. Ethanol-producing companies are competitively purchasing from producer markets at all prices, leading to a record surge in the market. Currently, maize from Bihar is selling at ₹2700 per quintal in Haryana and Punjab, while good quality maize from Uttar Pradesh is selling at ₹2600 per quintal, and average quality maize is selling at ₹2500-2550 per quintal. It is advisable to sell maize at these prices now, as maize from Ukraine and other countries will start arriving in the market soon, which might lead to a price drop. Additionally, the demand from consumption industries is currently high due to reduced duties.
