The monsoon trough is expected to maintain its near-normal position over the coming days. Multiple cyclonic circulations are likely to form along the monsoon trough. A cyclonic circulation is currently over South Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal. Under its influence, a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of West Bengal and Odisha. In Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Gangetic West Bengal, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over the next 7 days, with isolated heavy rainfall likely in Gangetic West Bengal and isolated extremely heavy rainfall possible in Odisha. Isolated heavy rainfall is also expected in Bihar and Jharkhand in the next 2-3 days. In Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over the next 4-5 days, with isolated heavy rainfall. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are likely to experience scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over the next 4-5 days. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated very heavy rainfall is expected in Rajasthan over the next 4-5 days. Widespread light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh over the next 7 days, with isolated very heavy rainfall likely in Chhattisgarh. From August 19-21, isolated heavy rainfall is likely in West Madhya Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is expected in the Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra, and Kutch. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Kerala & Mahe and South Interior Karnataka in the next 2-3 days. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are expected to experience scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over the next 7 days.
