Indian Rice Export Rates Fall
Indian rice export prices have declined this week due to subdued demand and expectations of higher production in the new season, with expanded cultivation areas. The price for India's 5% broken parboiled rice was quoted between $536 and $540 per metric ton, down from $539 to $545 the previous week. This decrease in prices has reduced India's price advantage over Thailand and Vietnam, leading to lower export volumes. Vietnam Rice Prices and Export Activity Vietnam's 5% broken rice was offered at $570 per ton, up from $565 a week ago. Despite lower domestic supplies, Vietnam has increased its rice deliveries to Indonesia and Africa. In July, Vietnam's rice exports rose by 46.3% from the previous month, reaching 751,093 metric tons. Total shipments for the first seven months of the year have reached 5.3 million tons, an 8.3% increase from the same period last year. Thailand Rice Prices Thailand's 5% broken rice was quoted at $567 per ton, a slight increase from last week's $565. Market activity has been quiet, with steady supply. Prices might fall if supply increases further. Bangladesh Domestic Prices Domestic rice prices in Bangladesh remain high despite good inventory levels.
