Despite high maize production in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, recent competitive buying by stockists and ethanol companies has led to an increase in maize prices. Seasonal price increases typically result in losses, but now 32-33% of consumption is directed towards ethanol companies. Private sector traders have resumed buying after a recent decline, causing market prices to rise. Maize prices have reached ₹2,750 per quintal for Bihar-origin maize and ₹2,650/2,660 per quintal for Uttar Pradesh-origin maize. Therefore, it is advisable to sell the maize now and secure a profit.
