Heavy Rainfall Alert for Gujarat and Rajasthan

The deep depression over northern Gujarat has been moving slowly westwards. It is expected to continue its west-southwestward movement across the Gujarat region, reaching the Saurashtra & Kutch coast and adjoining areas of Pakistan and the northeast Arabian Sea by the morning of August 29th. Extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Saurashtra & Kutch and the Gujarat region. In Northwest India, light to moderate rainfall is expected, with isolated heavy showers likely in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Meanwhile, the well-marked low-pressure area over Jharkhand and its neighboring regions has shifted west-northwestwards and now lies as a low-pressure area over the same region. It is likely to continue moving west-northwestwards across Jharkhand, northern Chhattisgarh, and adjoining southeastern Uttar Pradesh, gradually weakening over the next 24 hours. This system will bring light to moderate rainfall at many places, with heavy rainfall at isolated locations over Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, North Chhattisgarh, and South-east Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the east-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal in the next two days. Heavy rainfall is also very likely over Coastal Karnataka and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 2-3 days, while Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala may experience light rainfall.
