Heavy Rains to Batter Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Odisha
The cyclonic circulation over the east-central Bay of Bengal and its neighboring areas is extending, and under its influence, a fresh low-pressure area is expected to form off the coast of Odisha by tomorrow. This system is likely to move west-northwestwards, staying close to the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts over the next two days. As a result, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected over the weekend across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and adjoining areas of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. A cyclonic circulation is currently positioned over southeast Uttar Pradesh. As a result, light to moderate rain, with one or two heavy spells, is likely to occur over Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar. A Western Disturbance, observed as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and its neighbourhood, is forecasted to remain active until next 1-2 days. This disturbance may bring snow to northwestern Ladakh and light to moderate rainfall over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, Delhi, and western Uttar Pradesh. The deep depression over Saurashtra and Kachchh is slowly moving westwards. It is expected to shift west-southwestwards and emerge into the northeast Arabian Sea, off the coasts of Kachchh, Saurashtra, and adjoining areas of Pakistan. By tomorrow, this system is likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm. Following this, the storm is projected to continue moving west-southwestwards over the northeast Arabian Sea, gradually moving away from the Indian coast over the next two days. As a result, Gujarat will experience widespread rain and thunderstorms. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected, particularly in the Kutch region. Light rain is possible over Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Telangana.
