Cotton Report
Cotton harvesting has begun, and farmers are starting to bring their produce to the markets. Last year, farmers did not receive expected prices for cotton, but this year there is optimism for better rates. Due to last year's low prices, there has been a significant decrease in cotton sowing this year. Additionally, the previous year's crop faced severe pest issues, leading to a further decline in sowing levels. Consequently, this year's cotton production is also expected to be lower. Recent reports indicate that new cotton purchases have started in some markets of northern India, particularly in Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. However, the influx of old cotton remains higher in the markets. While the arrival of new cotton is limited, an increase in supply is anticipated in the coming week. Compared to last year, there are significant differences in cotton quality this season, which could benefit farmers. If the quality of new cotton is better than last year's, there may be greater expectations for price increases.
